Christian Engel | Thermaflex – March 7, 2017 - 14:00

PB-1 application experience in the field of district heating and remote cooling and its importance in relation to COP21 objectives.

The presentation subject (presented in German) was:

PB-1 Anwendungserfahrungen im Bereich Fernwärme und Fernkühlung und Bedeutung für die Entwicklung in Hinblick auf COP21 Zielsetzungen

PB-1 application experience in the field of district heating and remote cooling and its importance in relation to COP21 objectives.

Through case studies and actual project examples, Mr. Engel, a recognized expert in the field of piping systems for district heating and cooling, presented how the Flexalen range of products made by Thermaflex has changed how district energy programs are installed – radically reducing the time required. In addition, Flexalen systems using PB-1 have significantly extended the projected lifespans of piping networks which operate under the combined challenges of heat, pressure and chemical contact.

Münchner Kunststoffrohrtage 2017

Presentation topics for Münchner Kunststoffrohrtage events are related to the installation, use, and the innovative capabilities of plastic pipes.

In recent decades, piping systems made from polymeric materials have significantly improved the installation and operation of gas and drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, industrial pipeline construction and district heating and cooling. Other areas of application are still to be imagined and the potential is huge.

Also in the rehabilitation and renovation of damaged pipelines plastic pipes have become indispensable thanks to their special characteristics and high levels of safety.

This is an area of focus for PB-1 piping systems due to their flexibility and long lengths for reduced connections in pressurized hot and cold water installations.

Focus Subjects:

  • Pipe systems
  • Materials
  • New developments
  • Welding and testing techniques
  • User reports: Water/Wastewater
  • Practical experience

The conference is aimed at:

  • Design and construction engineers
  • Maintenance engineers
  • Welding supervision
  • Technicians, water and network managers
  • Executive staff
  • Managers and Directors

The conference is an annual event for those working in municipalities, cities, special purpose associations, gas supply companies, engineering firms, consulting and industrial companies, piping and tube manufacturers. Also, civil engineering and renovation companies with questions regarding planning, material selection and construction of pipelines and sanitation measures.

Münchner Kunststoffrohrtage 2017 welcomed attendees to take advantage of the technical expertise and the know-how of expert users and practitioners, as well as raw material, semi-finished, piping and tube manufacturers. The event offered an excellent opportunity for visitors to deepen their knowledge through information exchange with recognized experts.

Polybutene-1 is often referred to as Polybutene, Polybutylene, PB-1 or PB.

Polybutene-1 is not sold by PBPSA members for use in pipe applications intended for use in North America, and those parties require their customers or distributors not to sell products made from PB-1 into pipe applications for North America.
